What a week in Stuttgart it’s been! Full of awesome adventures, and I’m still buzzing with inspiration, connection, and creativity. This city is full of warmth—not just the 33-degree heat—but the people, the art, and the energy that seemed to flow through every gallery, park, and conversation.I’ve wandered through many galleries, stumbled upon sculptures in unexpected places, and found myself in the middle of spontaneous improvisation sessions. Stuttgart is a city that breathes art—it’s everywhere, and often free to experience. One of the highlights was visiting an exhibition by Katarina Grosse, a German artist known for her large-scale, immersive installations. Her work is bold, colourful, and completely immesive, like walking through a dream painted in motion. This week wasn’t just about observing art—it was about making it. I had the joy of creating collaborative drawings through movement, letting the rhythm of the moment guide the lines on the page. I also found a quiet moment to sketch our Marlow’s skull, despite the heat, which added a kind of meditative intensity to the process of practice.Evenings were filled with laughter, singing, and existential conversations over yummy eats and cold, refreshing lager. I met so many beautiful creatives, thinkers, and kindred spirits here at GEDOK and beyond. There’s something magical about the kind of connection that forms when people come together to play, create, and simply be.My artist practice has always been about the moment—about stepping off the planet, even if just for a breath, to experience the mindfulness of existence moment by moment, atom by atom. This past week in Stuttgart offered exactly that: a space to be fully present, to create, to connect, and to simply be.#sthelenslibrariesandarts #sthelenslibraries #sthelensboroughcouncil #artcouncilengland #artistinresidence #twinnedcities #artistexchange #facetime #helonconning @helonconning
