I arrived at GEDOK at 2am on Thursday morning, greeted with open arms by the beautiful community here. Despite the late hour, the warmth and welcome I received set the tone for what already feels like a transformative time.
Thursday was all about grounding myself—wandering the district, soaking in the atmosphere, and letting the city’s rhythm guide me. There’s something quietly electric about arriving in a new place with no expectations, just curiosity.
Yesterday was a whirlwind of inspiration. I visited an incredible print exhibition and met Rene, an artist from New York who creates intricate patterns and typography on linen cloths. Their work was delicate, layered, and full of quiet power. We talked about process, material, and the stories that fabric can hold.
Later that night, I was swept into the magic of The Tea Room—a space alive with free improvisation, music, and dancing. I even took to the mic! We laughed, moved, and celebrated until 2am. It felt like a spontaneous joy and connection.
Tonight, I’m heading to the Stuttgart Theatre for a Beatles tribute performance of The White Album. I couldn’t resist. There’s something about that album—its wild range, its rawness—that feels aligned with the creative openness I embrace.
In the coming weeks, I plan to collaborate with fellow GEDOK artists and associates. I’m keeping my heart and mind open to whatever inspires me. After only three days, this residency exchange is unfolding in ways I couldn’t have predicted—and I’m ready for more.
